Wrestlers Fall to Second-Ranked UW-La Crosse

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team had a tough time against second-ranked UW-La Crosse, falling 44-0 in the McPhee Physical Education Center tonight.

The closest match of the night was contested at 165 pounds. Levi Polus (Sr.-Winona, Minn.) narrowly fell 2-1 to La Crosse's Sean Huls.

Another close competition was at 184 pounds as Mat Rieckhoff (So.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) fell 6-2.

La Crosse won five other matches with major decisions and another with a pin while the Blugolds forfeited the two lower weight classes.

In dual meets this season, the Blugolds drop to 5-17 overall and 0-4 in the conference. La Crosse improves to 17-2 on the season and 4-0 in the WIAC.

The Blugolds will wrap up the regular season next Saturday (Feb. 18) by hosting a dual meet against UW-Stevens Point. Action is set to get underway at noon.
