Van Krevelen steps down as Head Gymnastics Coach

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Director of Athletics Dan Schumacher announced today that Blugold Gymnastics Head Coach Danielle Van Krevelen has stepped down after four seasons of leading the Blugolds.

"As much as love coaching, now is the time for me to focus on my family," said Van Krevelen. "I will always cherish the memories and lifelong friends I have from my experiences as a Blugold gymnast and coach."

"The Blugold Athletics Department appreciates the many contributions Coach Van Krevelen has made to the gymnastics program; not only as a coach but as a student-athlete," said Schumacher. "Her dedication to Blugold Gymnastics has made a significant impact and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors."

Van Krevelen competed for the Blugolds from 2009-10 to 2012-13 and left her mark on the program's record books. She still holds the school record on the floor exercise (9.825) and has the third-best score on beam and sixth-best on vault. The Maple Grove, Minn. native also was a part of the highest team scores in program history for vault and floor exercise.

Van Krevelen was a two-time WIAC Champion (floor exercise and balance beam) and seven-time All-American (beam and all-round in 2010, vault and all-round in 2011, floor exercise, all-around in 2012 and all-round in 2013). She was also named to the NCGA All-Academic team in 2013.

As head coach, Van Krevelen coached Kiya Borge (Sr.-Kennewick, WA/Southridge), who finished as national runner-up on the floor exercise at the 2018-2019 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships. The year prior, all-arounder Tori Erickson was named National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Division III Gymnast of the Year after breaking her own school record on vault and finished third in Blugold history on the floor exercise.

"I want to thank Dan Schumacher, Robin Baker and the whole athletic department, along with my former coach and mentor, Jean DeLisle," said Van Krevelen. "I've learned so much and grown a lot thanks to their support. I look forward to seeing what the next chapter holds for Blugold Gymnastics."
