EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team had their home opener Friday night, narrowly falling to UW-La Crosse, 185.600 to 183.550.

The Blugolds had a strong showing in the uneven parallel bars as they took second through fifth place, led by Jessica Dhaene's (Sr. Stacy, MN/Forest Lake Area) 9.375 and Lauren Zurowski's (Sr. - Greenfield, WI/Whitnall) 9.225.
Leading the way for the Blugolds on the vault was Becca Wilcox (Jr. – Roseville, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) who finished in fourth with a score of 9.425 while teammates Lauralynn Anderson (So. – West Bend, WI/home school) and Erin Olson (Sr. – Faribault, MN/Shattuck-St. Mary's) tied for fifth on the balance beam with a 9.350.
Olson also tied for third on the floor exercise with a 9.425 and Zurowski tied for fifth with a 9.400.
The Blugolds will be back in action Saturday, January 28 at UW-Whitewater.
