EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's golfers Kate Engler (So.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) and Catherine Wagner (Sr.-Austin, Minn.) were recently named 2012-13 Women's Golf Coaches Association Division III All-Americans.
Wagner, a second team honoree, earned All-America status for the third time in her career - receiving first team accolades in 2010 and 2012. She is the third three-time All-American in program archives, joining Maggie Loney (2004-06) and Meghan Sobotta (2006-08). Wagner golfed all four seasons at the national championship and took sixth place this season after winning the national title in 2012. She led the Blugolds this season with 79.3 stroke per round average, golfing 20 rounds in nine different events. Wagner finished in the top 10 six times, including four top-five finishes while winning once.
Engler received honorable mention status on the All-American team after finishing second on the team with a 79.6 stroke per round average. She finished in the top 10 at seven out of eight tournaments this season, recording four top-five finishes. Engler's selection marks the third time in the last four seasons that UW-Eau Claire has had multiple individuals named to the All-America squad.
Wagner and Engler were also named to the 2013 WGCA NCAA Division III All-Central Region Team.
