Lau earns National Athlete of the Week honors after breaking course record

NEW ORLEANS (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Darin Lau (Sr. - Eau Claire, WI/Immanuel) received national recognition Monday as the senior was named NCAA National Athlete of the Week, as selected by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

This is the second time this season that Lau has garnered National Athlete of the Week honors, the first coming on Sept. 18th following a top performance at the St. Olaf Invitational.

This past weekend at the Blugold Invitational, Lau shattered the 8K course record by 14 seconds, finishing in 24:15.0.

Lau, undefeated so far in his 2017 campaign, will look for a fourth win on Oct. 14th at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Invitational in Elsah, Ill.
