Lau named USTFCCCA Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS (Blugolds.com) – After winning the NCAA Division III national title on Saturday, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Darin Lau (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Immanuel Lutheran) has been named  the Men's National Athlete of the Year for the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country season, announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

At the national meet, Lau pulled away and won the individual title by nearly nine seconds over North Central's Jared Borowsky. Lau won five of the six meets he competed in this season, with his only loss coming at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Invitational where he finished third.

Lau finished sixth at the national meet last season, 14th as a sophomore and 31st in his first season as a Blugold, earning All-American honors all four years.
