NEW ORLEANS (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Darin Lau (Sr. - Eau Claire, WI/Immanuel) received national recognition Tuesday as the senior was named NCAA National Athlete of the Week, as selected by the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Lau, a five-time All-American last year, led the Blugolds to a first place finish at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, as the he clocked in at 25:10.5, 23 seconds faster than the next finisher. The Eau Claire native also beat last week's NCAA DIII National Athlete of the Week, Mark Fairley (Central College) who finished fifth.
Lau and the Blugolds will have a week off before hosting the UWEC Blugold Invite on Sept. 29th.
