Men's Tennis Announces 2013-14 Team Award Winners

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team awarded five players with the 2013-14 team awards, head coach Tom Gillman recently announced.

Named Co-Players of the Year were Joe Meier (Sr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) and Ryan Vande Linde (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial).

Meier finished the season with an 11-10 singles record, competing in the No. 2 spot. In doubles competition he compiled a 16-6 record at No. 1. Meier was previously named the team's most improved player in 2012.

At No. 1 singles, Vande Linde finished the season with an 11-11 singles record while going 16-6 at No. 1 doubles. He also was presented with the Team Player award. Last year, Vande Linde earned the Blugold Award while he was the team's Player of the Year in 2012.

Jordon Stevens (So.-Woodbury, Minn.) earned the Most Improved Player award. Stevens finished the season with a 2-1 record at No. 3 doubles.

Presented with the Blugold Award was Conrad Felten (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East). Competing at both No. 5 and No. 6 singles, Felten recorded an 8-4 record while finishing with an 11-5 overall singles record for the year. He was also 2-1 in doubles play.

Honored with the Coaches Award was Will Weyenberg (Fr.-Neenah, Wis.). He posted a 15-3 singles record while competing at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6. Weyenberg went 5-0 at No. 6 singles. He also had a 2-3 No. 3 doubles record.
