Men's Tennis Drops Two in Racine

RACINE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team ended a four-match winning streak, falling in two contests over the past two days at the Racine Racquet & Fitness Club. Friday evening, Eau Claire fell to Elmhurst College (Ill.) 7-2 and then came up short 6-3 to Carthage College on Saturday.

Ryan Vande Linde (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Joe Meier (Sr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) were the only Blugolds to win both of their matches, competing at No. 1 doubles. They won 9-8 on Friday against Elmhurst and followed that up with an 8-4 victory Saturday against Carthage. The pair is now 8-2 on the season and has won eight matches in a row.

Two of the other doubles teams split against their opponents to give the Blugolds two more victories.

Will Weyenberg (Fr.-Neenah, Wis.) was the lone Blugold to win a singles match this weekend, picking up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles against Carthage. He has won six straight matches and is now 6-2 on the season.

The Blugolds drop to 5-5 on the season.

Next up the Blugolds will compete in Hilton Head Island, S.C. on Spring Break, playing six opponents March 16-20.
