Men's Tennis on Spring Break - Blugolds Complete Trip Undefeated

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won its final competition on Spring Break to finish with a 5-0 record, defeating Messiah College (Pa.) 9-0 today.

Day Five Results

In singles play, the Blugolds dropped only 12 games combined as everyone won in straight sets. Three Blugolds finished with 6-0, 6-1 victories.

In doubles play, the No. 1 pair of Ryan Vande Linde (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Joe Meier (Sr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) along with the No. 2 doubles pair of Kyle Hoffmann (So.-Franklin, Wis.) and Josh Chuba (Fr.-Elk River, Minn.) picked up 8-0 victories.

Eau Claire is now 10-5 on the season.

The Blugolds will be back in action on March 29 when they face Augustana, Ill. in Madison.

Men's Tennis on Spring Break - Blugolds Win Again Wednesday

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team remained undefeated on its Spring Break trip, defeating Millersville (Pa.) 7-2 on the fourth day.

Day Four Results

The Blugolds swept doubles competition, only losing at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.

Conrad Felten (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) didn't lose a game as he won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

Austin Auleta (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Michael Mauthe (Fr.-Neenah, Wis.) dropped the fewest number of games in doubles, winning 8-1 at No. 3.

Eau Claire is now 9-5 on the season.

The Blugolds will wrap up their trip Thursday, facing Messiah (Pa.).

Men's Tennis on Spring Break - Blugolds Pick up Two Wins Tuesday

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) – Facing two opponents on the third day of its Spring Break trip, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team recorded two wins, starting with a 5-1 victory over Springfield College (Mass.) and ending the day with a 6-3 win over the College of Wooster (Ohio).

Facing Springfield in a shortened match in order for the Wooster match to be played, the Blugolds swept doubles and won two singles matches to capture the win.

Kyle Hoffman (So.-Franklin, Wis.) and Nathan Tretsven (So.-North St. Paul, Minn.) had singles victories for Eau Claire, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 and 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4, respectively.

Ryan Vande Linde (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Joe Meier (Sr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) dropped the fewest number of games in doubles play, winning 8-2 in the No. 1 spot.

Against Wooster, the Blugolds won two doubles matches and four singles matches.

Vande Linde, at No. 1 singles, dropped the fewest number of games as he won 6-2, 6-1.

The No. 2 doubles pair of Hoffman and Josh Chuba (Fr.-Elk River, Minn.) lost just two games as they won 8-2.

Eau Claire is now 8-5 on the season.

Wednesday morning the Blugolds will take on Millersville (Pa.).

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team was originally scheduled to face the Goucher (Md.) Monday morning but the match has been postponed due to rain. A makeup date hasn't been announced yet.


Men's Tennis on Spring Break - Blugolds Open Trip with Win

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team kicked off its 2014 Spring Break trip with a 9-0 victory over Bloomsburg University (Pa.) today.

Day One Results

The Blugolds played a few close matches but came out on top in all of them.

In doubles play, the pairs of Kyle Hoffmann (So.-Franklin, Wis.) and Josh Chuba (Fr.-Elk River, Minn.), along with Nathan Tretsven (So.-North St. Paul, Minn.) and Luke Zwiener (Fr.-Saint Cloud, Minn.) secured 8-3 victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.

On the singles side, Joe Meier (Sr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) dropped the fewest number of games as he won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2.

Eau Claire is now 6-5 on the season.

Monday, the Blugolds will be back in action, taking on Goucher College (Md.).
