Blugolds Fall to UW-Oshkosh in Season Finale

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team closed out its 2022 season with a 61-0 defeat to UW-Oshkosh on Saturday at Carson Park. The Blugolds kept within striking distance in the first half, but the Titans pulled away in the final two quarters.

UW-Eau Claire fell behind 10-0 after the first quarter. The Titans used two long drives that ended in a touchdown and a field goal to establish a two-score lead. The Blugolds entered Oshkosh territory for the first time on a drive that stretched across the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second, but turned the ball over on downs after a 12-play march down the field.

The Titans stretched their advantage to 17-0 with a 19-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter. The Blugolds moved the ball to the Oshkosh 42-yard line on the ensuing drive, but had to punt it away when faced with a fourth-and-long. UW-Oshkosh tacked on a 22-yard field goal as time expired to bring a 20-0 lead into halftime.

UW-Oshkosh's lead doubled in the third quarter, where the Titans found the end zone three times. They threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another. Three more touchdown runs in the fourth quarter completed the scoring.

UW-Eau Claire got into Titans territory on every drive in the second half, but the Oshkosh defense escaped each time. The furthest the Blugolds pushed was the Titans' 16 on a drive early in the third quarter. Quarterback Harry Roubidoux (Jr. - Winneconne, Wis.) threw passes of 12 and 11 yards to Will Adair (Sr. - Ashwaubenon, Wis.) and an 18-yard strike to Isaac Garside (So. - Bonduel, Wis.) to get deep into Oshkosh territory, but later turned it over on downs.

Roubidoux completed 14 of 29 passes for 138 yards. Ivan Ruble (So. – Clear Lake, Wis.) carried the ball 19 times for 65 yards, and Nate Baranek (Sr. – De Pere, Wis.) added 10 rushes for 60 yards. Garside hauled in a team-high 58 receiving yards on four receptions. Nick Kudick (Sr. – Mauston, Wis.) added four catches for 40 yards, and Adair had four receptions for 30 yards. The Blugolds offense rolled up 305 total yards.

The Blugolds recognized seniors Baranek, Adair, Alex Kaminski (Sr. – Weyerhaeuser, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser), Jonathan Malueg (Sr. – Stoughton, Wis.), Parker Bohm (Sr. – Bonduel, Wis.), Kudick, Caleb Feavel (Sr. – Neenah, Wis.), Jake Konvicka (Sr. – Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser), Nick Skentzos (Sr. – New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West), Austin Kerrigan (Sr. – Winona, Minn./Cotter), Joe Swanson (Sr. – Osceola, Wis.) and AJ Friminhac (Sr. – Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) with a pregame ceremony.

UW-Eau Claire finished the season with a 2-8 record and a 1-6 mark in the WIAC.
