Blugold Women’s Cross Country Takes 5th at Regionals

WINNECONNE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team finished fifth overall at the NCAA Regional Meet at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne on Saturday, led by a 10th place finish by Lucy Ramquist (Jr.-River Falls, WI) with a time of 21:44.60.

Washington University and UW-La Crosse earned automatic bids to the national championship meet finishing first and second with 62 and 91 points, respectively. Washington University not only claimed the team title, but also had the meet's top finisher, Lucy Cheadle, with a time of 20:55.50.

Clara Williamson (Jr.-Skokie, IL) was the second Blugold to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 22:19.80 to take 32nd place overall. Kelsey Jaeger (So.-Waukesha, WI) followed in 35th place with a time of 22:23.90. Melody Becker (So.-Osseo, WI) and Monica Emerson (Sr.-Somerset, WI) rounded out the scoring for the Blugolds, finishing 44th (22:43.70) and 47th (22.46.70), respectively.

The Blugolds will now wait a day to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship next Saturday in Mason, Ohio. Selections will be announced Sunday on NCAA.com
