Goetsch Leads Blugolds to 13-1

ST. PAUL, MINN. (blugolds.com) The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team traveled to Northwestern University in St. Paul where they secured a 12-9 win over the Eagles. The Blugolds now move to a record of 13-1 on the season.

In the first quarter Eau Claire came out strong with Becky Goetsch (Fr.-Maple Grove, MN) scoring two back-to-back goals both assisted by Kylah Krause (Jr.- Belleville, WI). Samantha Burns (Fr.-Mahtomedi, MN) went back-to-back scoring at 7:05 and 5:31. The Blugolds ended the first quarter up 6-1. The second quarter proved to be a defensive battle with 10 turnovers for each team and only 13 combined shots on goal.

Starting the second half Eau Claire found an offensive rhythm scoring four goals with only six shots on goal. The Eagles got on the board in the 4th quarter, but Alexandria Shea (Fr.-Kenosha, WI) stayed strong in goal keeping the Blugolds on top. The Blugolds forced 26 turnovers throughout the game and Goetsch lead the team with four goals and two assists.
