Bowman and Goetsch Help Blugolds Move to 7-0

FREMONT, NE (blugolds.com) The UW-Eau Claire Women's Lacrosse team started a series of games on the road against Midland University. The Blugolds record moves to 7-0 after a 19-5 win over the Warriors.

The Blugolds were on the board from the start with Ruby Pozorski (Fr.- Burnsville, MN) scoring the first goal with 14:11 on the clock assisted by Becky Goetsch (Fr.- Maple Grove, MN). Eau Claire went on to score five more goals in the first quarter. Gracie Bowman (Fr.-Mankato, MN) lead the Blugolds in the first quarter with two goals.

UW-Eau Claire came out hot in the second quarter scoring three goals within the first three minutes of play. Becky Goetsch (Fr.- Maple Grove, MN) had two unassisted goals and one assist to Ruby Pozorski (Fr.- Burnsville, MN). The Blugolds only allowed five shots on goal showing a strong defensive hold, while dominating on offense with seven goals to end the half.

Moving into the second half things slowed down offensively, but the Blugolds held Midland to a total of four shots on goal for the rest of regulation. Defensively the Blugolds allowed only five goals and forced 11 turnovers. UW-Eau Claire executed a team win with seven players scoring and 14 total assists. Bowman lead the Blugolds with a total of five goals while Goetsch added on four goals and four assists.

The Blugolds (7-0) will be traveling to Iowa to face William Penn on March 21st at the Statesmen Community Stadium at 5:00 p.m.
