Ellen Plendl Named to D3hoops.com All-Central Region Team

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's basketball player Ellen Plendl (Sr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) has been named to this year's D3hoops.com All-Central Region first team, D3hoops.com announced today.

Plendl, who was an All-Conference first team pick along with being named to the All-Defensive team, led the Blugolds and conference in rebounding and blocked shots this season. Averaging a double-double, she pulled down 11.3 rebounds per game and scored 13.6 points per game, a team-high and fourth best in the WIAC. Plendl was also third in the conference in field goal percentage with a mark of 55.4 percent (143-for-258).

Plendl also averaged 4.07 blocked shots per game, a team and league-best, along with the sixth-best mark in NCAA Division III. She finished with 114 blocked shots this season, a new school and conference record for most in a season. Plendl also set a school record for most blocked shots in a career with 259, which was the second all-time in the WIAC.

To be named to the D3hoops.com All-Central region team, players were nominated by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. Men and women combined nationwide, there were 683 players nominated, a new high. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
