Taylor Pierce Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire softball player Taylor Pierce (Jr.-Ashwaubenon, Wis.) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.

Pierce started in 10 games over Spring Break at the Tucson Invitational Games, eight at third base and two as the designated player.  She led the Blugolds in hitting, compiling 17 hits in 32 at-bats for a batting average of .531.  Six of Pierce's hits were for extra bases, including four doubles, one triple and one home run. She tied for third on the team with nine RBI and nine runs scored.  Pierce also recorded a team-high slugging percentage of .831 with 26 total bases and led the Blugolds with a .595 on-base percentage.  She also stole four bases in five attempts.  In the field, Pierce recorded 12 assists with one putout. The Blugolds finished their trip with a 7-3 record.
