Amanda Fischer Named NFCA All-American

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire softball player Amanda Fischer (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./West) has been named a 2014 NFCA Division III Third Team All-American, the organization recently announced.

This is Fischer's second year in a row being named a third team All-American. She is just the fourth Blugold in history to earn All-American honors twice.

Fischer tied a single season school record with 11 home runs this season while also stealing 31 bases, more than double of anyone else in the WIAC, which tied for fourth most in school history. She was second on the team with a .386 batting average, leading the Blugolds with 140 at-bats and tied for a team-high with 54 hits. Fischer also led the Blugolds and WIAC in runs scored with 49 and in RBI with 43. Fischer also led the Blugolds with 98 total bases, ranked second best in the WIAC. Fischer, who split time between the outfield and infield, finished with 39 putouts and 44 assists. She was selected to the All-WIAC first team for the third time in her career this season.
