MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has revealed its award winners for the 2023 men's outdoor track & field season based on voting by the league coaches. UW-Eau Claire's Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) earned the Kwik Trip Field Performer of the Meet during his performance at the 2023 WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Ekoue claimed the shot put and discus titles at the WIAC Championship with marks of 57-2 (17.42m) and 182-6 (55.63m), respectively. He added a second-place finish in the hammer throw. Ekoue's mark in the discus is the best in the conference this season.
Yakob and the Blugolds are back in action on Thursday, May 18th at the Augustana (Ill.) NCAA Qualifiers and the UW-La Crosse NCAA Qualifiers.
