MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) — Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's track and field team has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Men's Field Athlete of the Week for April 3-9.
Ekoue took home two first-place finishes and a third-place finish at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on April 7. He won the discus throw with a toss of 175-3 (53.41m), which currently ranks first in the WIAC and second in NCAA Division III. Ekoue also won the shot put with a toss of 54-7 1/4 (16.64m), which currently ranks first in the WIAC and third in NCAA Division III. Finally, Ekoue took third place in the hammer throw with a mark of 170-0 (51.82m), which ranks fourth in the WIAC and 44th in NCAA Division III.
