Men’s 4 x 400-Meter Relay Flies at UW-La Crosse Eagle Open

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team won one individual and one relay title at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open held today on Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.

The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Cody Prince (Sr.-Appleton, WI/North), Cory White (Sr.-Tomah, WI), Will LaJeunesse (Jr.-Belle Plaine, MN) and Thurgood Dennis (Sr.-Allouez, WI/Green Bay Notre Dame) earned first place honors with a blistering time of 3:11.96.  It is the second fastest time in NCAA Division III this season and is the fastest time posted by a Blugold 4 x 400 relay team this season by more than 3.5 seconds.

Dennis also went on the win the 400-meter dash completing the race in 47.42 seconds.  His time currently ranks fourth nationally among NCAA Division III runners this season.

Roger Steen (Sr.-Luck, WI) continued his winning ways in the shot put earning a first place finish with a toss of 58-11.25 (17.96 meters).  Steen won the event by nearly five feet.

Rylan Page (Jr.-Milwaukee, WI/The Prairie School) placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.82 seconds.  White also competed in the 200-meter dash where he finished fifth with a time of 22.14 seconds.

In the high jump White earned a fourth place finish clearing 6-3.5 (1.92 meters).  Teammate Matt Dietlin (So.-Fitchburg, WI/Verona Area) finished just behind White in fifth place clearing the same height of 6-3.5 (1.92 meters).

Nic Veras (Jr.-West De Pere, WI) placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 135-11 (41.43 meters).

The Blugolds will return to La Crosse next week where they will compete in the La Crosse Last Chance Meet #2.  The event will take place on Thursday, May 14 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
