PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's outdoor track & field team competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday, winning three events, one with a school record time.
Thurgood Dennis (Jr.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) led the Blugolds as he won two events. He took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.28 seconds, breaking his old school record of 10.30 seconds, set on April 13, 2013 in Platteville. He also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.13 seconds.
Friday night, Matt Scott (Sr.-Kiel, Wis.) won the 5,000-meter run, topping 46 other competitors with a time of 14:18.63, less than a second in front of the second-place finisher.
The Blugolds had four other top-three finishes.
Next weekend the Blugolds will compete at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse. Multi events will get underway Thursday while the rest of the meet will be contested Friday.
