Women finish first, Men second in Stevens Point dual

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving team hosted UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, with the women defeating the Pointers by a score of 144-98 and the men falling to the Pointers, 162-78.

Results

For the women, Kate Stensberg (Fr. – Antigo, WI) won the 100-yard freestyle (11:30.93) while Sari Mailey (Sr. – Minnetrista, MN/Mound Westonka) was second (11:35.70).

Rachael Streit (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/South) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.07) while Stensberg, Mailey and Streit were the top three in the 500-yard free, finishing in 5:37.34, 5:37.64, 5:44.43, respectively.

Emily Ries (Fr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) and Brittany Farr (Jr. – Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial) went 1-2 in the 50-yard free, finishing in 25.96 and 26.75, respectively.

Jessica Short (Jr. – Grafton, WI) won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:14.61 and the 100-yard free (55.75).

Amanda Wiedoff (So. – Pewaukee, WI/Kettle Moraine) and Lilith Lengvenis (So. – Minneapolis, MN/Southwest) finished first and second in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking in at 2:20.10 and 2:20.57, respectively.

Camille Madsen (Jr. – Andover, MN) claimed first place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:43.34) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Short, Farr, Ries and Molly Quinlan (Sr. – Roseville, MN) took first place with a time of 1:43.39.

On the men's side, Collin Miller (So. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) won the 50-yard free with a time of 21.58 and the 100-yard free (47.96).

Dayton Miller (Sr. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) took first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2.17.51).

Dylan Glumac-Berberich (So. – Fridley, MN) won the 1-meter dive with a score of 291.75, hitting an NCAA zone cut - his second of the year - which officially qualifies him for the NCAA national meet.

"Both teams competed really well today against a very strong UW-Stevens Point team," said Head Coach Annie Ryder. "The team swam through after a tough week of practice. This is always a tough time of year from a training standpoint and I am really impressed with how they raced, dove and their overall results."

 

The Blugolds will be back in action next Saturday at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
