Swimming & Diving finish in third at UWSP Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving teams both finished in third place at the UW-Stevens Point Invite on Saturday.

Results

Leading the way for the Blugolds was Dylan Glumac-Berberich (So. – Fridley, MN) who won one meter dive and also made the NCAA zone cut.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Jack Kelly (Sr. - Medina, MN/Wayzata), Collin Miller (So. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy), Conner Pendill (So. – Savage, MN/Burnsville) and Logan Coert (Sr. – Cedarburg, WI) finished in second place with a time of 1:38.01 while Pendill was also third in the 100-yard butterfly (54.71).

Miller also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (21.31) while the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Miller, Coert, Kelly and Caleb Odmark (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN) were third with a time of 3:14.30.

On the women's side, Kate Stensberg (Fr. – Antigo, WI) was third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.15), Breanna Kimmes (So. – Hastings, MN) was fourth in the 400-yard IM (5:03.56) and Jessica Short (Jr. – Grafton, WI) placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.69).

"I'm really proud of how the team swam," said Head Coach Annie Ryder. "We just came off of our training trip and the team is broken down and tired. They stepped up, swam tough and had a positive attitude throughout the meet. We are really excited about the work we did on our training trip and how the team looks as we transition into the championship season."

The Blugolds will be back at the McPhee pool this week as they host the University of St. Thomas on Friday, Jan. 26th at 5 p.m.
