Swim and Dive falls to UWL

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving team fell to UW-La Crosse, with the women falling 131-169 and the men 124-172.

Results

Jessica Short (Jr. – Grafton, WI) led the way for the women, winning three events. Short was first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.06), the 100-yard freestyle (55:10) and the 200-yard IM (2:18.02).

Kate Stensberg (Fr. – Antigo, WI) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:22.16 and the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.78) while Emily Ries (Fr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) won the 100-yar breaststroke with a time of 1:10.38.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ries, Molly Quinlan (Sr. – Roseville, MN), Brittany Farr (Jr. – Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial) and Short took first with a time of 1:42.51.

For the men, Nicholas Meints (So. – Parker, CO/Ponderosa) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:44.67 while Collin Miller (So. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) was the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.50.

Dayton Miller (Sr. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.58) and Dylan Glumac-Berberich (So. – Fridley, MN) won the 1-meter dive with a score of 291.00.

"The team swam really tough against a strong La Crosse team," said Head Coach Annie Ryder. "I am so proud of how they raced and how they came together as a team. Many swimmers had some big swims and season-best times. We are excited about the rest of the season and where this group is going."

The Blugolds will be back in action Nov. 10-11 at the St. Thomas Invite.
