Lau Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's track and field runner Darin Lau (Eau Claire, Wis./ Immanuel) has been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Lau, who was an all-american a season ago, won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:22.53 at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) Invitational on Feb. 9. The performance is currently second in NCAA Division III and first in the WIAC. This is the 2017 cross country national champions third indoor track athlete of the week award this season. 

The Blugolds will compete in the UW-Oshkosh Invite Saturday, February 17 as their last meet before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) meet on Feb. 23-24, which will be hosted by UW-Stevens Point.
