Track and Field Move to First and Eighth as Weaver Tops Decathlon and Four More Earn All-American Honors

GENEVA, OH (blugolds.com)— On the second day of competition at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, the Blugolds racked up a handful of All-American performances, earning them more team points. The Blugold men's track and field team is currently leading the national meet by 20 points, with the men scoring 39 team points over the first two days of competition. Rowan is currently in 2nd place with 19 points, John Carroll is in 3rd with 18 points, and UW-Stout is in 4th with 14 points. The Blugold women's track and field team is currently tied in 8th place with 12 points. Johns Hopkins is currently in the lead with 22 points, while UW-La Crosse follows closely behind with 21 points.

Marcus Weaver (So.- Lewiston, MN/Lewiston-Altura) capped off an incredible weekend of competition, winning the Decathlon with 7,486 points, giving him his second individual national championship of the weekend.

Abrahm Schroedl (Sr.- DeForest, WI/DeForest) eclipsed the 7000 point barrier for the first time in his Decathlon career, earning 7,154 points to place 3rd in the event, earning All-American status.

Mitch Stegeman (So.- Coleman, WI/Suring) closed out a strong weekend of competition by earning 4th place in the Decathlon, scoring 6,964 points and another All-American honor for the second consecutive year in this event.

Catie Fobbe (Sr.- Annandale, MN/Maple Lake) earned an impressive 2nd place finish in the shot put, earning eight team points with a mark of 15.07m. This was Fobbe's second All-American honor in the shot put as a Blugold.

Yakob Ekouke (So.- Hopkins, MN/Hopkins) completed a successful double in the throwing events, following up his 5th place finish in the discus throw with a 5th place finish in the shot put. His mark of 16.51m was a new personal best and gave Ekoue his third All-American honor of his career.

Wes Keller (Fr.- Richland Center, WI/Richland Center) competed in the high jump, clearing a mark of 1.97m to take 15th place overall.

The final day of competition will be a battle to earn team podium positions, with Blugolds competing in finals in a handful of events: Women's Hammer Throw, Men's 1500m, Men's 3000m Steeplechase, Women's Triple Jump, Men's 4x100 and 4x400m Relays. and Men's Pole Vault.
