Blugolds receive ITA Scholar Awards

TEMPE, AZ (Blugolds.com) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced the ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams for the 2020 season. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team garnered team honors and multiple individual awards for their accomplishments in the classroom.

ITA Release

As an overall team, the Blugolds earned themselves an All-Academics Team Award with a combined grade point average of 3.686 and had ten athletes earn individual Scholar-Athlete honors. Emma Barnd (So. – Wells, MN/United South Central), Alexa Brooks (So. – Beaver Dam, WI/), Emily Cooper (Jr. – White Bear, MN/Mahtomedi), Elaine Franta (Fr. – White Bear Lake, MN), Lindsey Henderson (So. – Prior Lake, MN), Sydney Presler (Fr. – Eau Claire, WI/Altoona), Kennedy Rusk (So. – Nisswa, MN/Brainerd), Rachel Slonac (So. – Muskego, WI), Riley Persike (So. – Lodi, WI), and Natalie Wijesinghe (Sr. – Apple Valley, MN) were those to receive the honors.

 

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

  • have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
  • be listed on the institutional eligibility form

 

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:

  • have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
  • all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
  • all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
