Blugolds Win Fifth In A Row

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team held their first afternoon matchup of the shortened 2021 season on Friday. The conclusion of the home and home with UW-Superior would be a physical one after eight penalties for 16 total minutes would be called. The Blugolds would continue their unbeaten streak with a 3-0 win.

The Blugolds would once again get he first tally of the game. Taylar Meier (Fr. – River Falls, WI/Columbine) would put home a pass from Eden Gruber (Fr. – Wausau, WI/West) on the backdoor for Meier's first goal as a Blugold. Later that period, Dehli Heikes (So. – Hermantown, MN) would score on a give and go pass from Morgan Zirbel (Sr. – Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) in the slot to extend the Eau Claire lead.

Emma Peterson would seal the deal in the third period on a breakaway for her 3rd goal of the year and 22nd in her Eau Claire career.

Stephanie Martin (Jr. – Yorktown, VA/Tabb) would stop all 15 of the shots she faced in her second win of the season. Martin is now 2-0-1 on the season.

The Blugolds will have their final regular season road game on Wednesday, March 3rd as they travel to River Falls, WI. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05PM against the Falcons.
