Gymnastics defeats Hamline

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team turned in their highest team score of the season and tenth highest in program history on Wednesday, defeating Hamline University 185.625 to 185.550.

Results

Two Blugolds also turned in personal bests on the night. Clare Mascia (Jr. – Woodbury, MN/Convent of the Visitation) tallied personal bests in both events she competed in, scoring a 9.200 on the uneven parallel bars (third place) and 9.450 on beam (second place) while Ashley Benes (Fr. – Grand Rapids, MN) took fourth place on the vault with a personal best of 9.575.

Other top performances were by Hannah Lewis (Jr. – Saline, MI) and Megan Fayler (So. - Afton, MN/Stillwater) who took the top two spots on the bars, turning in scores of 9.575 and 9.400.

Tori Erickson (Sr. – Woodbury, MN) was second in the all-around with score of 36.425 after winning on beam (9.625) and taking third on the vault (9.600) and floor (9.550).

The Blugolds will be back in action Thursday, February 15 at Winona State University. The meet is set to begin at 6:15 p.m.
