Blugolds record season-highs at WIAC/NCGA West Regional

ST. PETER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team turned in several season-bests on Sunday as they competed in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional.

Results

The Blugolds scored a season-high for overall score (187.775), team bars (46.750) and team beam (47.450). The team score is the fourth highest score in program history. Eau Claire finished fourth overall while UW-La Crosse won the meet with a score of 191.875.

Hannah Lewis (Jr. – Saline, MI) led the Blugolds on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.600, tying for eighth place. The score matches her season-best.

Ashley Benes led Eau Claire on the vault, tying for the second-highest score in school history with a 9.625. The fifth place finish and season-best will also send her to the national meet.

Tori Erickson (Sr. – Woodbury, MN) is also guaranteed a national appearance and led Eau Claire on beam (9.725 – second place) and floor (9.525 – 14th place). The senior's score on beam ties for third in program history and matches her season-high. Erickson tallied an all-around score of 38.225, placing second.

The rest of the national qualifiers will be announced on Monday. The national meet in Springfield, Massachusetts March 23-24.
