Ashley Meinen Named WIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire softball pitcher Ashley Meinen (Sr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) has been selected as a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.

Meinen pitched two complete games this week and finished with a 2-0 record. Against St. Norbert College on Saturday, she pitched a career-high nine strikeouts and gave up just four hits and one run as the Blugolds won 2-1. Facing UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, Meinen gave up only two hits and two runs, neither of which was earned, while striking out five batters in a 3-2 Blugold win. For the week, she had a 0.50 ERA.
