Men’s Cross Country Takes Second at Luther Saga Cup

DECORAH, Iowa (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's cross country team competed in the Luther Saga Cup on Friday. The Blugolds took second place with 60 points. Wartburg won the meet with a perfect score of 15 points.  

The UW-Eau Claire men raced in wet and muddy conditions at Luther's cross country course held on their campus. Two Blugold men went home with a mug for finishing in the race's top 10.  

Trevor LaMirande (Jr. - Dresser, Wis./St. Croix Falls) was the first Blugold to cross the finish line with a seventh-place finish in 26:46.98. The second Blugold to finish was Alex Carlson (Jr. - Bristol, Ill./Marmion Academy) in ninth with a 26:56.09. 

Also scoring for the Blugolds in the team's top five were Carl Lundgren (So. - Auburndale, Wis.) in 12th with a 26:59.69, Logan Meinert (So.- Andover, Minn.) in 17th with a 27:13.29, and Eric Kordus (Jr. - Mosinee, Wis.) in 20th with a 27:18.09. 

The Blugolds will be back in action at the NCAA North Regional meet at St. Olaf in Northfield, Minn., on November 12 at 12 p.m.
