18 earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors

New Orleans, La. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track & field teams had several individuals earning 2016-17 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Awards, the organization has announced.

On the men's side, 402 earned All-Academic honors including Darin Lau  (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/Immanuel), Nick Petersson (Sr. – Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central), David Kornack (Jr. – Edgar, WI) , Matt Cooper (Sr. – Ashwaubenon, WI), John Vodacek (Sr. – New Auburn, WI/Bloomer), Brandon Christnovich (So. – Holmen, WI) and Hunter Henk (Fr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls).

For the women, a total of 608 student-athletes earned All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom. 

Sasha Riley (Fr. – Fairmont, MN), Callie Fischer (Jr. – Oneida, WI/Ashwaubenon), Morgan Marek (So. – Muskego, WI), Erica Oawster (So. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial), Samantha Slattery (So. – Waunakee, WI), Tommie Brenner (So. – Reedsburg, WI), JoHannah Theisen (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/Regis), Kelsey Worachek (Jr. – Appleton, WI/Xavier), Claire Fischer (So. – Appleton, WI/North), Jess Rupnow (Sr. – Sussex, WI/Sussex-Hamilton) and Jessie Reineck (Sr. - Greenville,WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) made the list for the Blugolds.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards, competed in an NCAA III Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
