Day Two of Track & Field Nationals Complete

DELAWARE, Ohio (Blugolds.com) - Two 10th-place finishes highlighted the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's outdoor track and field teams' second day at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships.

Andrew Storsveen (Sr.-Winona, Minn.) set a school record in the decathlon as he took 10th place with 6,389 points. He broke his own school record, which he previously set at the WIAC Championships this season. The record held prior to Storsveen's was set in 1988.

Also with a 10th place finish was Lindsey Haller (Jr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) in the shot put. She finished with a distance of 13.35 meters (43-9.75). Brittany Frederick (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) was 13th in the same event with a mark of 13.20 meters (43-3.75). Frederick also competed in the hammer throw today but finished with no distance after fouling three times.

In other final events today, Ashlyn Mauer (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) was 12th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:53.27 and Julia Baranek (Jr.-Port Washington, Wis.) was 15th in the triple jump with a distance of 11.26 meters (36-11.5).

Four Blugolds also competed in preliminaries but no one qualified for finals in their events.

Jordanne Greenup (Jr.-Fridley, Minn.) was 17th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.47, Talisa Emberts (Jr.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) was 11th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.63, Maria Peloquin (Sr.-Prescott, Wis.) was 13th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.88 and Kim Miresse (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) was 11th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.52.

Tomorrow the Blugolds will wrap up their time at nationals. The group will compete in six events, three men's events and three women's events.
