HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team recorded an 8-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University on the third day of its Spring Break trip.
The Blugolds swept the doubles competition and dropped only the No. 1 singles match.
In singles play, all five of the Blugolds' wins came in straight sets.
Ryan Vande Linde (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial), Joe Meier (So.-Hutchinson, Minn.) and Ben Robertson (Jr.-Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) gave up just one game each. At No. 2, Vande Linde won 6-0, 6-1 while Meier and Robertson won with scores of 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
On the doubles side, all three Blugold pairs won 8-1.
Eau Claire is now 13-3 on the season.
Tomorrow morning the Blugolds will face the University of St. Thomas (Minn.).
