Men's Golf Finishes Regular Season Third at Bobby Krig Invite

LE SUEUR, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team completed the regular season taking third at the Bobby Krig Invitational, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), at Le Sueur Country Club today.

The tournament was originally scheduled to conclude Saturday but with poor weather conditions in the forecast, tomorrow's second round was cancelled.

Eau Claire claimed third with 310 strokes while Gustavus won the event with 298. Saint John's University (Minn.) took second with 304.

The Blugolds had three golfers in the top 15 out of a total of 50 participants.

Ben Brooks (Jr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) led the Blugolds with 75 strokes to tie for fifth place.

Tim McCormick (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) tied for eighth with 76 while Andrew Schmidt (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) tied for 15th with 78 strokes.

Winning medalist honors was Drew Lynch from Saint John's, who finished with 69 strokes (-1).

The Blugolds will now wait to hear if they are selected for the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship, which will be contested May 14-17 at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla. Selections for nationals will be announced May 6 at 2 p.m. (Eastern) on NCAA.com
