Blugolds 17th in Fall Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio (Blugolds.com) – Following the fall 2012 season, the UW-Eau Claire Athletics program is in 17th place out of more than 430 NCAA Division III institutions in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) officials announced.

During the fall season, the Blugolds accumulated 192.5 points. The women’s cross country team scored the most points, 75, after taking fifth at nationals. Men’s cross country took 10th at nationals to earn 67.5 points while women’s volleyball finished with 50 points.

The Blugolds lead the WIAC in 17th place while a total of four schools are ranked 53rd or better.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men’s.

Standings will be updated following the winter season while the final standings for the 2012-13 academic year will be announced in June.
