BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's tennis teams took on the Luther College Norse on Saturday afternoon. The women, who dropped a 0-9 loss to Gustavus the night before, and the men would both come away victorious. The women won 6-3, and the men competed for a 5-4 win.

For the women, Elaine Franta (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) and Alex Brooks (Jr.-Beaver Dam, WI) would battle to a third set set in both their matches. Franta won at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-7, 10-8 and Brooks won at No. 4 singles 6-3, 1-6, 10-6. The double matches finished in similar fashion with No. 1 doubles Elaine Franta and Lindsey Henderson (Jr.-Prior Lake, MN) claimed a touch 8-7 victory and No. 2 doubles Alexa Brooks and Emily Cooper (So.-White Bear Lake, MN/Mahtomedi) won 8-3. The Blugolds improve to 4-1 on the season.
The men also had a very close outing. Grant Mauthe (Sr.-Neenah, WI) and Adam Burk (Sr.-Forest Lake, MN/Totino Grace) had the only double's win of the night, winning 8-6. At No. 2 singles, Hunter Roseth (So.-Lakeville, MN/South) defeated Cole Schneider (LC) 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 with a 10-4 tiebreaker win. Demetri Bush (So.-Edina,MN/Duluth Marshall) came away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Brook Norwood (LC) at No. 4 singles. The men's team is now also 4-1 on the season.
The men's team travels to Owatonna, MN for a neutral site matchup against Augustana University (SD). The women's next match is scheduled for Friday, April 2nd against St. Thomas University (MN).
