Miller Sets Another Record and Enters D3 History in 100 Yard Breastroke

BROWN DEER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – After day two of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Swimming and diving Championships (presented by Culver's) both Blugold teams are in second place.

Results

The Blugold women are in second place after a great second day at the WIAC Championships with a team score of 516, following closely behind first place UW- La Crosse with a team score of 530.50. The men followed suit with a great day, ending Day 2 in second place with a team score of 495, only behind UW- Stevens Point who had a team score of 634.

 Individually, Collin Miller (Sr.—Rochester, MN/ Schaeffer Academy) broke his own school record and WIAC record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 52.75 in the preliminary session.  This time is currently No. 1 in the nation.  In the finals, Miller went on to win the 100-yard breastroke and beat his preliminary time with a time of 52.38 which is currently the best time in NCAA DIII this season.  The senior became only the second DIII swimmer ever to swim under 53 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke.

400-yard IM: 2nd place: Maddie Kooima (So.—Stoughton, WI) 4:45.34

                     3rd place: Breanna Kimmes (Sr.—Hastings, MN) 4:47.61

                     4th place: Bailey Letourneau (So.—White Bear Lake, MN) 4:48.16

100-yard Fly: 4th place: Emma Steffel 59.63

200-yard Free: 2nd place: Paige Pelikan (So.—New Berlin, WI/ West) 1:55.61

100-yard Breaststroke: 3rd place: Taylor Bradley (Fr.—Baraboo, WI) 1:07.61

                                            4th place: Emily Ries (Jr.—Eau Claire, WI/ Memorial) 1:07.93

100-yard Backstroke: 2nd place: Emma Steffel (So.—Green Bay, WI/ Ashwaubenon) 58.14

1M Dive: 3rd place: Sarah Dahlk (So.—Verona, WI/ Middleton) 395.15

It was a great second day for both Blugold Swim and Dive teams at the WIAC Championships and they start back in action tomorrow with 10 am prelims and 6:30 pm finals.
