Miller Sets Record on Day 1 of WIAC Championships

BROWN DEER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – After day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Swimming and diving Championships (presented by Culver's),  the women's team is in first place and the men are in second. 

Results

The Blugold women are in first place after a great start at the WIAC Swim and Dive Championships with a first day team score of 197.5 The men followed suit with a great day, ending Day 1 in second place with a team score of 233.  Individually, Collin Miller (Sr.—Rochester, MN/ Schaeffer Academy) had an outstanding day in the pool winning the men's 200-yard individual medley and at the same time setting a conference meet record time of 1:47.52. 

Top Finishers for the Blugold women were:

500-Yard Freestyle: 2nd place: Paige Pelikan (So.—New Berlin, WI/ West) 5:08.30

400-Yard Medley Relay: 3rd place: Emma Steffel (So.—Green Bay, WI/ Ashwaubenon) 27.58, Emily Ries (Jr.—Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) 1:00.31, Bella Thovson (Fr.—Hutchinson, MN) 25.54 and Katherin O'Connell (So.—Green Bay, WI/ Ashwaubenon) 54.19

Top Finishers for the Blugold men were:

200-Yard Freestyle Relay: 1st place: Collin Miller 19.98, Dane Detert (Jr.—New Berlin, WI/ West) 21.37, Sam Ryf (Fr.—Berlin, WI) 20.99, and Michael Bylander (So.—Baxter, MN/Brainerd) 20.54

200-Yard IM: 1st place: Collin Miller 1:47.52

3-Meter Dive: 1st place: Dylan Glumac-Berberich (Sr.—Fridley, MN) 560.10

400-Yard Medley Relay: 1st place: Michael Bylander 23.30, Collin Miller 50.72, Sam Ryf 22.00, and Nicholas Meints (Sr.—Parker, CO/ Ponderosa) 47.42

It was a great first day for both of the Blugold Swim and Dive teams at the WIAC Championships and they start back in action tomorrow with 10 am prelims and 6:30 pm finals.
