CLERMONT, Florida (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team wrapped up their spring trip with a pair of wins on Friday, defeating Allegheny (PA), 7-0 and Augustana (IL), 3-2.

In the first game of the day, Eau Claire out-hit Allegheny 8-4 while scoring two runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings and added one run in the second on their way to their fourth shutout of the season.
Megan Maruna (Jr. – Oswego, IL) continued her stellar play at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored from the leadoff spot, recording both a double and a triple – her third of the season.
Sadie Erickson (Jr. – Norwood Young America, MN/Central) and Maria Back (Sr. – Rosemount, MN) also recorded two hits in game one, with Erickson going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Back finishing 2-for-3 while driving in two runs.
Jacie Schultz (Fr. – Lake Crystal, MN/Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial) tallied her fifth victory of the season, going the complete game while recording four strikeouts and allowing just four hits in seven innings.
Against Augustana, Maruna, Erickson and Back again paced the Blugold offense, each collecting two hits and the trio each scored a run for the 3-2 victory.
All three Eau Claire runs came in the fifth. Maruna led off with a single to left and would score on an error after Erickson's single to right. Back followed her with a single through the left side and Erickson would score thanks to another Augustana error. After a hit batter, another throwing error by the Vikings would plate Back.
Madi Zerr (Jr. – Bristol, WI/Wilmot Union) earned the win for Eau Claire in the circle, scattering six hits while striking out three in 5.2 innings, surrendering just one earned run.
With the wins, the Blugolds improve to 12-4 on the year. They are set to host three doubleheaders next week, weather/field conditions permitting. Games are scheduled for Wednesday, March 30th vs. Luther (IA), Thursday, March 31st vs. Northwestern-St. Paul and Saturday, April 2 vs. Central (IA).
