Men's Cross Country Takes Second in River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – With four runners finishing in the top 11, the UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team finished in second place out of six teams at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course today.

Eau Claire narrowly trailed winner UW-La Crosse, which finished with 33 points while the Blugolds had 35. UW-Stout was third with 86.

Ryan Mugan (So.-Howards Grove, Wis.) led the Blugolds as he took second with a time of 25:15.2, just over nine seconds behind winner Jessop Keene from UW-Stout.

Coming in fourth place was Erik Rosvold (Jr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) with a time of 25:30.6 while Matt Scott (Sr.-Kiel, Wis./) took ninth with a time of 25:35.5.

Also scoring for Eau Claire were Christian Leitner (So.-Red Wing, Minn.) in 11th place and Nick Petersson (So.-Brookfield, Wis./Central) in 17th place.

The Blugolds will be off next weekend before competing in two events the following week. Some of the team will be at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Sept. 27 while others will be at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 28.
