EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football schedule has officially been released for the 2020 season.
The Blugolds will begin the season on the road, traveling to the Twin Cities to match up with St. Thomas on September 5th. Eau Claire upset St. Thomas 21-19 at Carson Park last fall. The Tommies were ranked No. 6 in the country at the time.
The home opener will be September 12th against Loras College at 1:10 PM. The Duhawks are another team UWEC defeated in 2019, 35-3. A week later, the Blugolds will wrap up their non-conference against Valley City State, an NAIA opponent.
The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener will also be the Homecoming game, against UW-Whitewater on October 3rd. The Warhawks played for the Division III National Championship this past fall.
The remaining schedule will be UW-Stevens Point (Oct. 10), UW-Stout (Oct. 17), UW-Platteville (Oct. 24), UW-La Crosse (Oct. 31), UW-Oshkosh (Nov. 7) and UW-River Falls (Nov. 14).
Head Coach Wesley Beschorner is ready for his second season at the helm. "2020, here we come! Our team is excited about this schedule with six games at Carson Park. Playing in front of our fans and the BMB [Blugold Marching Band] creates one of the best atmospheres in Division III right here in Eau Claire. Having six guaranteed home games is outstanding."
Eau Claire went 3-7 and 1-6 in the WIAC in Beschorner's first season. Follow the Blugolds on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app from your mobile device.
