COLFAX, WI. (blugolds.com) On a brisk and sunny Saturday morning, the Blugolds took on the rest of the WIAC at the WIAC Championship meet, with the women's cross country team taking 2nd place, with 62 points. UW-La Crosse won the women's race, scoring 33 points. The men's cross country team took home 4th place, with UW-La Crosse winning the meet, scoring 31 points.
Running a breakout race to lead the women's team, Carolyn Shult (So. - Augusta, WI/Augusta) captured a runner-up finish, earning her 1st Team All-Conference Honors. She ran 22:34.0 for the 6k distance. Coming in close behind her, Katie Faris (Sr. - Chippewa Falls. WI/Chippewa Falls) finished in 8th place, running 22:49 and earning 2nd Team All-Conference Honors.
To round out the scoring five, Emma Drangstveit (Sr. - Lakeville, MN/Lakeville North), Naomi Long (Sr. - Medina, MN/Wayzata), and Morgan Dahl (Fr. - Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) finished in 16th, 17th, and 19th places, respectively. All three women were awarded with Honorable Mention All-Conference Honors.
On the men's side, Connor Dolan (Sr. - Nekoosa, WI/Assumption) led the way for the Blugolds, finishing in 6th place and earning 1st Team All-Conference Honors. He ran 25:11.9 for the 8k distance. Tyler Osen (Jr. - Lakeville, MN/Lakeville North) finished 12th overall and ran 25:29.8, earning 2nd Team All-Conference Honors.
Jackson Wichtendahl (Sr. - Alexandria, WI/Alexandria), Mason Shea (Fr. - River Falls, WI/River Falls), and Jake Petri (Sr. - Muskego, WI/Muskego) rounded out the top five for the Blugolds, finishing in 28th, 29th, and 32nd places, respectively.
Next up for the Blugolds will be the Luther Saga Cup in Decorah, Iowa.
