Wallace & Weaver Take Home Top Spots In WIAC Multis

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track & field completed their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Multi Events and Elite 5k on Thursday. Eau Claire's Megan Wallace (Sr. – Burlington, WI) and Marcus Weaver (So. – Lewiston, MN/Lewiston-Altura) both took home first place in their multi events. The men took home a team placement of first, while the women were runner-ups behind UW-La Crosse.

After a shining performance on day 1, Wallace was crowned the Pentathlon Champion with a final score of 3754. She won the long jump (5.59m) and the shot put (12.59m) on the first day and took second in the 8000m (2:28.31). The women would end up with 17 points to complete the event. The first place finishers, La Crosse, would end with 33 points.

In the Men's Heptathlon, Marcus Weaver took champion status with a final score of 5093. Weaver won the shot put (13.43m) and the 60m hurdles (8.71). Abrahm Schroedl (Sr. – De Forest, WI) took home second place with a individual score of 4937. Schroedl took second in the shot put (12.55m) and the pole vault (4.35m). He also placed third in the 60m (7.27), the high jump (1.91m), and the long jump (6.68m). The men placed first with a team total of 23. UW-La Crosse came in second with 19.5 points.

The Blugolds will go back to their shortened WIAC dual schedule on Saturday, February 27th. Both teams will travel to UW-Oshkosh and events are scheduled to begin at 1PM.
