EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer program has announced its 2023 schedule.
After a scrimmage at St. Scholastica on Aug. 24, the Blugolds will officially open the season at the Bob Baptista Invitational on Sept. 1 in Wheaton, Ill. UW-Eau Claire will square off with Greenville in its season opener before playing tournament host Wheaton on Sept. 2.
Three road games begin the Blugolds' campaign. The team's home opener is set for Sept. 9 against St. Benedict at Simpson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The contest starts a run of three consecutive home games.
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) action begins with a home matchup against UW-Whitewater on Sept. 30. The Blugolds also have home conference games against UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stout.
Overall, the Blugolds are home for 10 of their 17 contests. Five of those home games are on Saturdays.
UW-Eau Claire is coming off a 2022 season in which it posted a 13-6-2 record and finished as the runner-up in the WIAC Tournament. The Blugolds and 27th-year coach Sean Yengo enter the new season with a mentality of "believe."
"It starts and ends with us stepping on the pitch and believing that we can accomplish anything we put our minds to," Yengo said.
