CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team finished their season strong during the 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Saturday as Chase Schmidt (Sr. – Rice Lake, WI) placed 3rd in the 165-weight division and earned All-American status with three wins on day two. PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team was back in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual action on Tuesday. The #20 ranked Blugolds faced off against UW-Platteville for their fourth conference meet of the year. After a strong start in the mid-weight classes, UWEC jumped into first place of the WIAC with a 37-0 sweep over the Pioneers.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team participated in the 15th Annual Luther College Gator ‘Boots” Duals on Saturday. With four nonconference duals on the schedule, the Blugolds went 2-2 on the afternoon and tallied 11 pins on the afternoon.

With a 15-year losing streak looming overhead, the Blugolds took down their third ranked opponent of the year 25-14, for their third upset of the year.

A trip to Milwaukee, WI featured the Blugolds participating in the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invite, while a few others went to Kenosha, WI for the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open. MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team was on the road for one more competition before the holiday break. A triangular hosted by Augsburg University gave UW-Eau Claire the chance to face two teams ranked in the top-5 of the latest NWCAonline.com coaches’ rankings. With the first and last matches of the day, the Blugolds upset No. 3 ranked Stevens Institute of Technology and battled hard in a 18-15 defeat to No. 4 ranked Augsburg. No. 12 Mason Hawkins (Sr. – Farmington, MN) won both his matches at the HWT division, including an upset over Augsburg’s No. 4 Tyler Kim (AUG) to end the day.

The UW-Eau Claire hosted Saint John’s (Minn.), Augustana (Ill.), and Buena Vista and ultimately, the Blugolds took first place with eight 1st place finishers.
DECORAH, Iowa. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team was back on the road on Saturday as they traveled to Luther College for the 2021 Luther Open. With two divisions for each weight class, Eau Claire had nine place winners as a team.
OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling was back on the road Thursday for their annual dual, the Chancellor’s Cup, against UW-Oshkosh. The Blugolds got off to a fast start with wins at the 133 and 149 spots, but ended up falling to the Titans, 27-12.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team opened their season at home on Monday with a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual against UW-Stevens Point. The Blugolds started the season strong with a 28-16 win over the Pointers.
