Wrestling Ends 2010 with Loss to Ranked Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team let an early lead slip away and fell 27-16 to No. 17 UW-Oshkosh tonight at the Kolf Sports Center.

The Blugold wrestlers nabbed two of the first three events to own a 10-4 lead. Brian Reier (Jr.-Stillwater, Minn.) pinned his opponent just 1:35 into the 141 pound competition for the victory. Ryan Seidler (So.-Adams, Wis./Adams-Friendship) earned a major decision win in the 149 class with a result of 23-9.

While back-to-back pins and three other losses put the Titans in front of the Blugolds, Eau Claire did claim another two wins. In the 197 weight class, Luke Ortscheid (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./West) defeated his opponent 5-2 and Joe Pitsch (Jr.-Oshkosh, Wis./North) earned a close 4-3 decision in the 285 division.

Eau Claire closes out the 2010 portion of its season a winless 0-6, but returns to action early next year. On Jan. 8, the Blugolds will return to Oshkosh for the Titan Duals. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.
