SUPERIOR, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – After tying fifth-ranked UW-Superior on Friday night, the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team came up short to the Yellowjackets 3-0 at Wessman Arena tonight.
All of the game's scoring came in the second period, one on a power-play and the other two were even-strength.
Superior outshot the Blugolds 33-16 and Paige Turner (So.-Iron River, Wis./Duluth East) made 30 saves, playing the entire game in-goal for Eau Claire. Turner is now 0-2-2 on the season.
The Yellowjackets had seven penalties, creating five power-play opportunities for Eau Claire while the Blugolds had six penalties, creating four power-play opportunities for Superior.
Eau Claire is now 1-3-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the WIAC. Superior improves to 4-0-2 on the season and 1-0-1 in conference play.
The Blugolds will be home again next Friday, hosting sixth-ranked UW-River Falls. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. The teams will then complete the weekend series in River Falls on Saturday.
