EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team started their 2021-22 campaign hosting UW-Superior on Friday night at their annual Tip-Off Classic held in Zorn Arena. The Blugolds would defeat the Yellowjackets, 76-53.
Once the Blugolds claimed the lead early in the first quarter they would not look back.
Tyra Boettcher (Sr. - Menomonie, WI) and Bailey Reardon (Jr. – River Falls, WI) led Eau Claire with 23 and 18 points, respectively. Readon and Jade Ganski (So. – Rothschild, WI/Newman Catholic) also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Blugolds shot 45.6 percent (26-for-57) from the field while the defense held the Yellowjackets to 38 percent (19-for-50). Eau Claire dominated inside, scoring 44 points in the paint and capitalized on 19 Superior turnovers, scoring 21 points off of the miscues.
The Blugolds (1-0) will return to Zorn Arena Saturday as they host Ripon College at 5 p.m.
